A QOV was presented on Sat. Dec. 7 at 3pm in John Knox Village to General Bernard (Burn) Loeffke by Pat Lynes and Sarah Crew.
Burn is a Vietnam vet and was the first Army attache to China under Nixon. His accomplishments are too numerous to mention. Google Bernard Loeffke. Burn is 90 and a resident of John Knox, and Sarah is happy to call him a friend. The world needs more people like him.
This was at a special meeting between Burn and the current Chinese military attache in Washington who requested a meeting with Burn.
The Chinese delegation was impressed with our presentation and the quilt. They took picture after picture of the quilt, even closeups of the label. The fact that we honored our heroes in this personal way really impressed them. I think it gave them an insight into the American people that totally stunned them.
It was a wonderful experience
